MPIRE Books of Crewe is currently looking for previously unpublished photographs, letters and stories about men and women from the Crewe & Nantwich area who fought in the First World War. Set for publication in 2014, this will be a magnificent record of the area's fallen.
The new book commemorates over 1,000 men from the Crewe and Nantwich area who fell during the Great War of 1914-18, with over 300 represented by a photo and 242 with personal details from their service records. Set out in chronological order, the book also describes events happening in the local area, which include the fund raising events, the housing of the Belgian refugees and the anti-German disturbances. If you do have local-related photos of the period, especially the men commemorated on the local war memorials (not already submitted) then can you please get in touch with us asap. The photographs will be copied and returned immediately.
